To determine the strength of HS element.

There are various considerations.

The first is based on the season. 衰旺

Based on the month/season, there are 5 different strength categories:

旺 Prosperous

相 Supportive

休 Rest

囚 In Prison

死 Death

The second is based on the 12 Qi phase.

Chang Sheng 12 Qi phase - 十二運.

长生chang sheng 沐浴mu yu 冠带guan dai 临官lin guān

帝旺di wang 衰Shuāi 病Bing 死Si 墓Mu 绝Jue 胎Tai 养Yang

This is based on the pillar itself.

So for Ren Zi it is considered帝旺di wang.

The third is based on the other EB – obtaining the ground. 得地

长生禄旺，根之重者也；

墓库余气，奶之轻者也。

Obtaining Chang Sheng, 禄Lu or 旺 Prosperous represents heavy roots.

Tomb and residue Qi represent represents weak link.

Strength of Tomb and residue Qi needs to consider punishment and clash.

不以为通根峰库，甚至求刑冲以开之，

竟不思刑冲伤吾本根之气。

五、理气

理承气行岂有常，进兮退兮宜抑扬。

Is there a constant logic of the movement of Qi, advancing and retreating, a constant modulation.

Comment:

Nature follows Qi’s path, is there a consistency?,

Increasing and decreasing following a modulation.

In the study of the 12 Qi phase, Qi follows the following modulation;

Chang Sheng(Birth), Muyu(Bath), Guan Dai(Attire), Lin Quan(Coming of Age), Di Wang(Prosperity Peak), Shuai(Weak), Bing(Sickness), Si(Death), Mu(tomb), Jie(Repose), Tai(Womb), Yang(Gestation).

From Chang Sheng after being born the Qi increases until its peak at Di Wang and starts decreasing from Shuai to Yang.

原注：阖关往来皆是气，而理行乎其间。行之始而进，进之极则为退之机，

To established the coming and going of the Qi, to determine the logic of the interaction.

The starting point of the movement is increasing, until it reaches the peak where it becomes the starting point of decreasing. (Again referring to the modulation theory of the 12 Qi phase)

如三月之甲木是也；行之盛而退，退之极则为进之机，如九月之甲木是也。

Example: Jia wood in the month of Chen represent the extreme point of increasing before decreasing. (Jia –Chang Sheng at Hai- increasing from Hai, Zi, Chou, Yin and peak at Mao month) Similarly during the 9^th month which is Xu month, it represent the extreme point of decreasing before increasing. (Jia – Yang Qi phase at Xu month. The nect month is Hai which is the Chang Sheng – the start of increasing Qi)

学者宜抑扬其浅深，斯可以言命也。

Only with the understanding of this profound modulation theory can students begins to understand the theory of destiny studies.

It represents illness, issues, student, religious and Meta-physics.

Tian Rui ( ): earth element, Yin, has close connection with epidemic. So, sometimes we call it as a disease star. When Tian Rui stays in one palace, people should receive teachings or admonishment, make friends, stay in the original place, abstain from arm force deployment, no marriage, no quarrel, no travel far, no new construction, etc.

·        加 惊门：风吹草动，一夕数惊 小凶

·        Tian Rui with Jing Men. Sign of disturbance or trouble. A bit inauspicious.

Yang Branches movement is strong, the arrival of disaster or good luck will be fast and prominent.

Yin Branches is still but focused, the result can last for the whole year.

木人水出，提井水之象，通达，畅达，滋养，固。

Wood person outgoing water. The image of water from the well, to understand clearly, unimpeded flow, ever ready nourishment, assuring.

“劳苦，稳慎，处忧患，常固不迁。”

To toil, stability, external hardship, will never shift position.

水中植物，海带，海爱。

Objects in the water, seaweed, fond of the sea.

坎为体失脱破耗，巽为体有进益之喜，谋事吉。

Kan represent losing, shedding of, broken, consumed, Xun represent improvement in situation, auspicious foe planning.

有水厄，风湿痛，胆病，肾虚症。

Associated with water disaster, rheumatism, gall bladder sickness, kidney disease.
